PBL-Philippines Poverty
This course is a practical Problem-Based Learning course that aims to understand and seek solutions for actual social issues. The course will provide key questions that the students need to examine as well as opportunities to interact through online communication with people directly involved in the issue so that they can all work together to make a proposal to solve the issue.
This course aims to develop problem-solving skills through the study of poverty in the Philippines.
Points of this program
- This is a problem-solving program with the theme of poverty in the Philippines, for 1 term of 8 weeks.
- The learners will learn about the background of social problems and interact with people directly involved in the issue, and discuss the issue.
- This course aims for the learners to aquire creativity and thinking skills through trial and error on how to solve problems, and finally create posters and presentation materials and give presentations.
- This is a small group program.
- 8/12-week courses are available.
* In this course, part of the course fee will be donated to local NPOs and institutions with which we will interact.

* ClassLive has 11 levels (1-11) for one-to-one and 3 levels (G1-G3) for groups. (CEFR compliant A0-C2)
- You can take this course from basic level (CEFR: A0 ~, ClassLive Group Level: G1).
- Classes are grouped by 2 groups according to levels; G1, G2 & G3.

This course is ideal for those who want to participate or plan to participate in overseas volunteer programs. Since it is a PBL course on poverty in the Philippines, it is a good opportunity to learn about the facts of poverty in the Philippines and think about what you can do.
Those who are thinking of studying in the Philippines.
When studying in the Philippines, you can participate in study tours organized by NPOs on weekends. Through the interaction with people whom the organizations are supporting, you will be able to find the problems prior to actually going to the site. And the visit will be more fruitful and help provide more effective support for them.
Those who have plan to go abroad for study or work.
The world population is 7 billion. The English population is said to be 1.7 billion, of which 1.4 billion are non-English speaking English speakers. It can be said that the majority of English speakers are non-native English speakers. In reality, many people speak English with different accents and pronunciation intonation. Understanding such Englishes is also a global skill.
Lesson plans and fees
The PBL Course is one of our Global Skill courses. Various opportunities are provided to develop 21st century skills such as problem-solving ability, thinking ability, creativity, critical thinking and teamwork while tackling the poverty problem in the Philippines. The lessons are all small group classes and 1 term is 8 weeks. During the lessons, the learners will be given opportunities not only to get to know about the problem through lectures, but also to be connected online and listen to the voice of people involved with this issue. At the end of the course, the participants will give presentations to show what they have learned. In this course, the learners will experience a series of projects from classroom lectures to fieldwork, discussion and presentation. Part of the tuition fee will be donated to the NPOs they will interact with.
